The April grand jury impaneled today in the criminal division of the St. Loul3 circuit court by Judge Ryan took up the charges of bribery growing out of the state alum baking powder examination. exam-ination. Charges have been made by Lieutenant Governor John A. Lee that Daniel K. Kelley of New York, alleged al-leged executive agent of the baking powder trust, attempted to give him $1,000 to secure the appointment of assistants as-sistants who would handle the bill to repeal the law prohibiting the manufacture manu-facture of "alum" baking powder in Missouri for the interests of the trust. Kelley, who was arrested in New York several days ago at the request of Governor Dockery, was later released re-leased on his own recognizance. A requisition for Kelley, signed by Governor Gov-ernor Dockery, is now in the hands of a St. Louis detective en route to New York City, and a telegram has bei sent by Circuit Attorney Folk to District Dis-trict Attorney Jerome, asking that Kelley be rearrested and held to await the arrival of the requisition papers. .
