There will be an entertainment given at the penitentiary on Thanksgiving day. Some of Salt Lake's best musical talent will assist to make the pro-1 pro-1 gramme interesting. He is well known in newspaper circles all over the intermountain west. Mr. and Mrs, George Haldorn of Butte were guests at the Kenyon for ,a i few days last week. Mrs. Haldorn sang Gounod's "Ave Maria" at St. Mary's on Sunday. She possesses an exquisite mezzo-soprano voice that for quality and depth of expression is rarely equaled. The large congregation was delighted with her singing. . i On Monday next the Salt Lake Opera company will give a complimentary performance of "Madeline" for the old folks, widows, orphans and deaf mutes. Tickets of admission can be had at Savage's art store or the Salt Lake theatre. The old folks' entertainment always crowds the Theatre from pit to dome. There will be no distinction of race, color or creed. On Tuesday, Nov. 21, death, entered the home of Mr. and Mrs.. W- H. The Salt Lake City branch of the Needlework Guild of America met at the Kenyon Monday. The occasion was the annual election of officers. This branch of the guild was founded by Mrs. W. A. Nelden in the year 1892, and now numbers 550. The object of the guild is to collect new garments and ; distribute them to the hospitals, orphan or-phan homes and other charities.
