Show domestic science banquet one of the most pleasant social events of the winter was a banquet served by the domestic science deportment of the carbon county high school to a company of about forty in the school dining room miss froat took advantage of the boards monthly meeting last saturday to entertain the board members and a few invited guests even the board members were agreeably surprised with the entertainment though an ad journea session had bad been scheduled for nine in the evening ov ening they stayed at the banquet until nearly eleven the menu was an excellent one the tables of the model dining room were artistically bedecked with pink and white carnations and ferns the high school orchestra delighted the diners with music the while after the repast the guests amused themselves with toasts for an hour mr marcusen acting as toastmaster the remarks of mr C P overfield when asked to give his impre impression sion of price and carbon county were especially interesting he was full of praise for the new high school and was free to declare that many counties in the great states of new york ohio and pennsylvania could not boast of so splendid a building and equipment he ile suggested that dent elect wilson would be delighted to stop over in price and speak in the tile high school auditorium on his proposed western trip mr overfield is state treasurer of the democratic party in utah and in private conversation promised his good offices to see that in making the presidents itinerary in utah price should not be overlooked the guests of the evening were mr and mrs marcusen principal andars and mrs wooley mr and mrs E enoch bry bryner ner mrs lulie frandsen neil 31 mad madsen maden en J L eckert frank W moore dean ft brayton yr 1 and mrs william norton mr and mrs levi N harmon W H mcclurg andrew young robert powell C P overfield john T rowley and judge ferdinand erickson frost WAS assisted in in the berving by miss funk elma taylor laura gurr carr pollie jesson lenore conner and mabel stowell 31 mrs rb W J elwood entertained at a valentine card party last saturday afternoon five hundred was the game the tally cards caril 1 s to carry out the valentine idea being in the shape of hearts there were six tables and mrs R cantrell and mrs carl gunderson were the lucky ladies carrying oz first and second prizes an elegant lunch was served sheriff kelter is in salt lake arranging for the execution of and romeo who are to be shot feb 22 the condemned men have an application in before the board of pardons for commutation of their sentence to life imprisonment the board meets saturday at which time their fate will be decided mrs 0 W tingley entertained four tables at five hundred wednesday evening gnassi unassisted sted by mr ting 1 I 1 Y who w was as suddenly called to salt lake on business mrs chas averill was the lucky lady and G E nelms the lucky man mar cah winning a prize on page eleven of this issue will be found the financial statement of the first national bank of this city the statement shows the bank to be in excellent condition and since it was compiled considerable county mone money y has been deposited therein by county treasurer ballinger the girls of the domestic science dip department artmen t of the price A cadamey entertained the parents of the pupils and the teachers at a very dainty lunch last evening |
