Show EASTER SUNDAY AT ST. MARY'S CATHEDRAL. Easier Sunday, the most joyful of all th church celebrations of the year, dawned brightly beautiful, and in prayer, song and llo.vers was the grand i festival in memory of Our Ri.sen Savior i celebrated at St. Mary's. Cathedral. j The eervic2s ait St. Mary's were most j impressive. Solemn Pontificial High ' Maes wad celebrated by Rt. Rev. B;sh:p ! Seanlan, celebrated: Pev. Father Ken- j nedy. Deacon; and Rev. Father Curran, ! Sub-Deaccn. The sermon was preach- j ed by Rev. Father Kenr.cdy, on the "Resurrection of Our Divine Lord." and was a strong and able discourse. Beautiful Beau-tiful as the Easte-r decorations have been in former ve-ars, this year the altars al-tars were more beautiful than ever before, be-fore, owing to the efforts of the ladles belonging to the Altar Society of St. Mary's. The eanetuary was elaborately decorated dec-orated with palms and plants: the altars al-tars were ablaze with lights, and hundreds hun-dreds of calla and Easter lilies, roses, carnations and ferns produced an artistic artis-tic and charming effect. At the extreme point of th main altar was a beautiful large cross, made entirely of calla lilies. x'unss c lilies Tvere placet! la in choir loft, and on the organ, altogether making a beautiful display. The church wa6 packed to the doors, hundreds being turned away, while many remained outside to listen to the strains of the grand music as it floated through the open windows. The, music was most elaborate; the large choir, with fine poloists, assisted by Roy Williams, violinist, and under the direction of the organist. Miss Nora Gleason. acquitted themselves with special spe-cial credit. The following is" the roll of the choir in full: Sopranos Mrs. J. Hal Moore, Misses Sinclair, Kinsella, Mooney, Sullivan, Ireland and Little. . Altos Missca Cooper, Burke, Harley and Gray, Tenors Messrs. Schaeffer. Veltz, Bowers and Scarpa. BassoH Messrs. Sauers, Crawford, West and Waleh. After the Papal Benediction was con- i ferred by Rt. Rev. Bishop Seanlan, the large congregation slowly left the church, and in the heart of every member mem-ber was the earnest wish that in the near future the voices of mitred bishop and vested clergy, m' ogled with the tones of a grand pipe organ, would be heard in the new Cathedral now in course of erection: but many wiil be the pleasing recollection and holy- memories memor-ies of the present St. Mary's. |
