She was the fifth daughter of the late Michael Creeman. Roscommon. Martin Flanagan, of Castlerea, clerk of the Union and Rural District Council, Coun-cil, died on May 6. He was 52 years old. . Rev. M. MacBranain, of Strokestown, in a recent letter to the Society for the Preservation of the Irish Language, said: "The language movement is progressing rapidly in this district. We have engaged the services of an Irish speaker, and since last January he. has four teachers' classes of about fifteen teachers every week, and classes every evening for young men and ladies, which are well attended. Irish is being be-ing taught in all the schools in thie parish, and not' only to the senior pupils, pu-pils, but to the pupils of all clases. We are making preparations for a great Feis, to be held in Strokestown on 25th to 26th of July." His first curacy was in his uncle's parish, par-ish, and there he remained about 20 years. He afterwards labored in Dun-gravan, Dun-gravan, Kilrossenty and Ardmore and Grange. Father Quealy was a ?Jation-alist, ?Jation-alist, and also Mentified with the Gaelic movement, lie was a splendid Irish speaker, and he often used the language langu-age to outwit the police note takers at meetings of the Land and National Leagues. , Westmeath.
