Show I CHEYENNE, WY0. f j ! (Special Correspondence.) Last week a retreat of three days, beginning on Wednesday,- the 27th, was held in the convent school. It was conducted con-ducted by the Rev.' J.;Weir,. S. J., from the Sacred Heart college, Denver. Ninety-six children, made it, and about sixty of them received communion in the convent chapel on Saturday morning. morn-ing. During mass devotional hymns were sung, and all were thankful for the blessings received. "Arh2 clone of the retreat the apostolic benediction was given. The spelling contest in the high school classes took place on Tuesday morning, and Miss Ethel Warlaumont " of the third year was the winner of : the prize. The grammar classes are , eagerly preparing for their "spelling 1 bee," which is to come off in a week or two. The senior girls in the convent gave another and a more elaborate set of dramatic exercises one evening last week in the school hall, and they received re-ceived much praise from all present for the skill shown in performing them. The musical accompanimest was played by Miss Anna Ketcham. William McGinn has returned from Denver. Small boys have committed so many depredations at the site of the new Catholic cathedral that the contractor, M. P. Keefe, has found it necessary to station a guard there during the night. I The custodian, sleeps in the old Schooler residence, which has not yet been moved from that portion of the cathedral cathe-dral site which it occupies. |
