Show French Women Emancipated. (New York Herald.) Two laws relating to the feminine movements have been promulgated. One authorizes divorced women to contract con-tract a new marirage within a few months after divorce is pronounced. The other, which was before parliament parlia-ment thirteen years, grants married women the right to dispose of their earnings, over which hitherto their husbands possessed complete control. Wives can now acquire property independently inde-pendently with their wages, but must contribute their ' share toward the household expenses. If, however, a woman squanders her money her husband hus-band can obtain an order from the courts withdrawing her right to expend ex-pend her earnings. A woman's separate property may be seized by creditors for debts contracted con-tracted by the husband for the household, house-hold, but not for his personal debts. |
