Show T0N0PAH, NEV. ( ; 1 (Special Correspondence.) Tonopah, Sept. 5. The Sunday afternoon after-noon band concert, of which W. S. Johnson is the promoter, was well attended, at-tended, showing Tonopah's appreciation apprecia-tion of good music. The second number on the program deserves special notice, as the orchestra's orches-tra's rendition of the "Poet and Peasant" Peas-ant" elicited a prolonged round of applause. ap-plause. Many vacation sojourners are returning return-ing and among the number may be mentioned Mrs. Charles Pope and Miss Lizzette Pope, both members of the choir. We gktdly welcome them back. Rev. Father Butler was called to Manhattan to attend a funeral during the past week. Our new rectory is well under way, the, foundation being all in. The structure struc-ture is to bta frame dwelling and will be an architectural ornament to the corner of St. Patrick's street. The Sanctuary society will meet at the home of Miss O'Meara this week. Miss Gertrude Corkedy and Mr. William Wil-liam Wilkins were united in marriage by Rev. Father Butler on Sunday, September 1. The young couple' are both of Manhattan and came here to be married by Rev. Father Butler. Dan O'Connell, formerly of Wood River but lately from British Columbia, Colum-bia, Is in Tonopah on his way to the surrounding camps. The Knights of Columbus are to hav3 an installation in Goldfield In Octozer. Quite a number of San Francisco Sir Knights are expected to participate, as well as many from Reno. |
