Show Behold the empire opened up through the contemplated road from Denver to Salt Lake! Between Denver and Salt Lake City, and penetrated by the Denver Den-ver & Northwestern, is an area larger than the whole state of Pennsylvania and possessing more varied natural riches. It is greater in extent than the combined states of Vermont, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Isl-and, Connecticut, Delaware and New Jersey, which states contain a population popula-tion of 5,965,000. Pennsylvania has a population of 6,302,000. In this vast territory ter-ritory there are now not to exceed 10,-000 10,-000 people. Its resources consist of agriculture, ag-riculture, grazing, coal, iron, asphal- tnm. oil marble onvv. trranite nnrl oth er building stone, lumber and other material wealth. The opportunities for growth and development are vast. In all this territory there is not a mile of railroad. The new railroad will have no competition on either side of it for a distance of 100 miles. No such field for railway construction exists anywhere any-where else in the United States. The road will penetrate an empire capable of sustaining an industrious, productive, produc-tive, prosperous population larger than is found today in Colorado, tTtah and Wyoming combined. |
