Show LAST DAYS OF POMPEII. Pyrotechnic Spectacle in Open Air at Walker's Field. . The Pain pyrote-hnic spectacle, "Last Days of Pompeii," will be given on Walker's Field, Main and Ninth South streets, everv nisrht during the week of July 24. Nothing approaching these magnificent midsummer right carnivals carni-vals and fireworks displays has ever been conceived by the modern spectacular spec-tacular genius, and until the present season the opportunity of witnessing the big Pain exhibition has been confined con-fined to comparatively few of the largest lar-gest cities on account of the enormous expense involved in their production. , This season, however, a colossal port-I port-I able equipment has beeen provided, . and the huge display is transported j about the country by its own special train of twenty cars, carrying its own portable amphitheatre with a seating capacity of 10,000 people: its own electric elec-tric lighting effects, and a small army of pyrotechnists, performers, dancers and workmen. Fully four acres of ground are covered by massive scenic effects to represent the ancient city of Pompeii and its treacherous Vesuvius. Ve-suvius. One of the most thrilling and tragic episodes in Roman history is depicted in Pain's marvelous spectacle, spec-tacle, and nearly 300 people are seen in its stirring scenes. Incidentally there will be introduced exciting chariot races, pretty ballets, sensational aerial and acrobatic specialties of the circus, gladitorial feats of the hippodrome, beautiful and impressive pageants, etc. Following the fall of Pompeii comes a brilliant $1,000 display of Pain's Manhattan Beach fireworks, in which all the pyrotechnic novelties will be seen. UTAHNA THEATRE. Next week the Utahna stock company com-pany will present a three-act farce-comedy. farce-comedy. "A Domestic Blizzard," with a curtain raiser, the balcony scene from "Romeo aud Juliet." Miss Victory Vic-tory Bateman will appear as Juliet and George H. , Mu'ford as Romeo. This scene precedes the comedy, which is considered one of the best ever written,' full of humorous complications which terminate happily. Friday evening a live baby three months old will be given away from the stage to the person holding the lucky number. A coupon with a number num-ber is given with each ticket purchased and the baby will be given to the lucky holder. |
