Show ! OGDEN, UTAH. ! Sacred Heart Academy. (Special Correspondence.) Owing to the temporary absence of Miss Miller, '06, the Ogden City items will not appear this week, but wo trust she will have returned from her visit before the next issue of the paper. Welcome visitors to Sacred Heart last week were Rev. D. Kicly of Salt Lake and Rev. D. Riordon of Chicago, both returning from the jubilee celebration cele-bration ofthe archbishop in San Francisco. Fran-cisco. In defense of the so-called reformed orthography, an old-fashioned spelldown spell-down was of intense interest last Tuesday Tues-day in the second preparatory class. Out of 200 test words, not one was missed by the captains, the little Misses K. Tyler and Marguerite Toy, and a record almost as creditable was reached by some other members of the. class. To those who recall the early days of Catholicity in Utah, the last sad rites of the church over the remains of Mrs. Katherine Hasset were most consoling, expressing as they did che grateful tribute trib-ute mother church ever pays those de- voted children, who during life have manifested their faith in her teachings and their revei-ence for God's priests. Mrs. Hasset was buried from St. Jo- j seph's church last Wednesday at 10 a. m. A mass of requiem was celebrated by Rev. J. Ryan, Rev. J. Guinan of All Hallows and Rev. J. Barrett of Rock Springs were also present. The funeral sermon was preached by Rev. P. M. Cushnahan. Though the deceased was known socially to a large circle of Og-denites, Og-denites, her rare virtues of mind and heart could -best be revealed by tho pioneer iriests of this region who for almost two score years found her a ready and devoted friend alive to the needs of the growing country and eager to aid with her keen intelligence and assist by h?r generous hospitality, the zealous shepherds of this western wild. Coming to Ogden from Tipperary, Ireland, Ire-land, almost fifty years ago, she never lost the warmth and sincerity that marks the Irish faith, and one of her consolations during the last years of her life was to reveiw the struggles of the early days and note the progress Catholicity had made in Utah. A-telegram of condolence was received from Bishop Scanlan, who regretted exceedingly exceed-ingly that his physical condition prevented pre-vented his attending the funeral of an old and respected friend. Regrets were also expressed by Rev. D. Kiely, whom business called to Chicago, and doubtless doubt-less numerous unspoken 'messages flashed from heart to lip of priests who had received kindnesses from the dear, patient hands so calmly clasped in death. Mrs. Hassett is survived by five children, chil-dren, Mrs. Thomas Fitzgerald. James F. Hassett, Mrs. T. D. Ryan and Mrs. E. M. Conroy of Ogden; Mrs. jhmes H. Shufflebarger of Lewiston. Ida. She also has 'a sister, Mrs. G. McCormack, living at Los Angeles. Eulogies are meaningless on such occasions. Her life was her eulogy, and truly may we apply ap-ply to her the words spoken of the valiant vali-ant woman: "She hath looked well to the paths of her house, and hath not eaten her bread idle. Her children rose up and called her blessed. Give her the fruit of her hands; and let her works praise her in the gates." Roll of Honor for October. Senior Department Misses L. Ma-lone Ma-lone G.
