Show ; CHURCH NOTES. News Items of Persons and Affairs About Cathedral Parish. Mrs. K. H. Channing and Miss Mary McFadden are the ladies appointed to attend to the altars this week. The names of those who contributed to the Christmas collection will be read at the 11 o'clock mass on Sunday. : . , The ladies of the Altar society will hold an important meeting on the first Monday in February. a- Kev. Father Keenan celebrated mass at Helper last Sunday. Rev. Father Sheehan celebrated mass Bt Mercur last Sunday. ! Rehearsal for the members of the 11 o'clock choir is held every Friday night at 131 Fast First South. Services were held at the state prison last Sunday. Uev. Father Morrissey of-; of-; . fieiated. Miss O'Oorman. Miss Grims- dell and Miss Kmily Grimsdell attend ed the services from the city. Miss ! 1 Kmily Grimsdcll rendered two sacred olos for the services, one being an ' - . '"Ave Maria" by Santley. and the oth er "Elizabeth's Prayer," from Tann-hauser. Tann-hauser. Miss Grimsdell has an exquis-: exquis-: itc soprano voice, that has been well ! trained. She also sings with wonder- : ful expression and her work at the ; penitentiary was much appreciated by all. ; The offertory solo at St. Mary's last j , Sunday was an "O . Salutaris," by Mattrield, which was well rendered by Miss GabriHe Rossi. Miss Rossi is visiting vis-iting friends in this city for a. few months, her home being in New York City. She ha been a faithful member of the choir since October and her ser-"' ser-"' vices are highly appreciated.
