Frank Wescott. secretary of the Silver Sil-ver King Coalition company, was in this c ity the fore part of the week ( n business. James Kirk, an employe of the King company, had the index finger of his left hand ouite badly mashed Monday j by getting it caught in some of the machinery around which he was working. work-ing. Dr. Wilson dressed the wound, which is healing nicely. Williajn Horan returned Monday from a prospecting- trip to the Reese river district, Nevada. He succeeded in getting- four promising claims, bearing bear-ing copper and iron. Michael' Freeman, brother of Mr.--. James Corrijran. came from his home in Rock Springs. Wyo.. to attend the funeral fu-neral of the late James Corrigan. li? returned Thursday morning. Mr. and Mrs. James H. Kirk were very pleasantly surprised Friday evening- by i number of friends, the event being in commemoration of the first anniversary of iheir marriage. Cards was the feature, Mr. Stout and Mrs. Kirk winning first prizes and Mr. Kirk consolation. Refreshments were served and a general good time enjoyed. A telegram -was received by Mr. W. M. Curtis last week announcing the death of James Hiekey at San Diego. The deceased had been suffering: with miner's consumption and went, to California Cali-fornia several months ago in hopes of being benefited. Mr. Hiekey was about VI years of age and well known in mining min-ing eircles. having been in charge of the Comstock up to the time it closed down. Deceased had hosts of friends in this city who will regret- to hear of his death. Mayor John F. Welsh called a mass meeting of citizens for Monday evening' even-ing' in the city had to gel the sentiment senti-ment of the people on having. a publie celebration on the Fourth of July and to make plans for the day if so decided. de-cided. James Corrigan, a popular citizen of this city, died at his home last Sunday after an iliness of about ten months, miner's consumption being the cause of demise, and the community mourns his loss and sympathizes with the bereaved ones. Dec-eased was born near Strang-ford. Strang-ford. County Down. Ireland, and was j "d years. 10 months and 27 days old at the time of his death.
