He made a wry face and passed the remainder of the morsel along to his headman. This continued on down the line, and all made gestures of disgust- when they tasted the food. The chief then nodded nod-ded sorrowfully to the young missionary mission-ary and told him that his life .was saved, as he was: too poor to eat. The missionary had a cork leg.
