Show CHILDREN OF MARY NOTES. Sunday morning, August 14, at the 8 o'clock mass, the member? the the Young Ladies' Sodality of the Children of Mary will roceiw Holy Communion in a body. There will be a solemn reception of new members into the sodality in the evening at 7:30. Right Rev. Bishop Scanlan, spiritual director of the sodality, so-dality, will officiate. Besides the beautiful beau-tiful and impressive reception ceremony cere-mony there will be a special sermon on "Devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary." Special music is being arranged for the services. All members are earnestly requested request-ed to attend both the morning and evening services. Catholic young ladies who have made their first Holy Communion and are over 15 years of age, are eligible to membership. All those desiring to join are especially asked to receive Holy Communion with th3 sodality on next Sunday morning. The Young Ladies' Sodality of the Children of Mary was organized at St. Mary's cathedral on the 8th of May of this year, with a charter membership member-ship of 125. The principal object of the sodalists is to honor the Blessed Virgin Alary in a special manner by receiving Holy Communion in a body on the second Sunday of each month, an 3 also meeting meet-ing once a month to recite the office in her honor and to discuss religious questions ard in man other ways promote devotion to the Virgin Mr ther. There is ilso a soc'al eide to the sodality, and man pleasant affairs will be enjoyed by the members. Al ready the "initiation" party was a great success, anj other social affairs for the fall and winter are beinj I lanned by the ent iriainment cumin' cum-in' tee. |
