' - f In conformity with the proclamation of the President, and in pursu- -r 4- ance of a custom dear to the-American heart, I hereby designate Thurs- -f 4- day, the 30th day of November, 1899, as a day of general thanksgiving 4 4- and prayer. . 4- Our harvests have been abundant; the health and happiness of our 4 people is unexampled; the volume of trade, is greater than ever; the 4- standard of education has improved: our flag is loved at home and re- 4- spected abroad; our nation is blessed with unparalfleled prosperity, and 4 the future is radiant with promise. The people cf Utah share the general . 4- content and happiness of the nation. No year in our history has fur- 4- nished greater Vaiise for rejoicing than this. -f 4 Let each of us acknowledge God's mercy and goodness in praises to 4- his holy name and in deeds of charity and loving kindness to those who -4- 4- are less fortunarte than ourselves. 4- 4- In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and caused 4-, the great seal of the state to be hereunto affiixed 4- (SEAL.)
