Instinctively, some just the right style and women choose color in the se- lection of these, requisites, yet many fatal blunders are made which might easily be avoided if shopping were ® pursued along more practical lines and discretion brought into play. Haphazard buying is often the real cause of failure. A woman will buy a girdle, a buckle, veil, or purse because she adnmires it and usually it is marked below stock price. The' Directoire modes have brought into vogue.so many charming and dainty little accessories of dress which are distinctly feminine. The. girdle and sash ends pictured among the illustrations are fashioned of satin-caught'at intervals with handsome jeweled buckles, which may be moved along as desired. Many of the Directoire sashes are finished with pendants of varying description, of self-material, forming balls and fanciful forms of crochet and braid Ornaments. One cannot speak of these pendant effects without mentioning the numerous Directoire ties fashioned of ribbon, velvet, satin and metallic tissues. that give just the right note of color. These are in black and all the fashionable hues finished off with pendant drops beautifully jeweled, gold tassels drops of clearest crystal, silk and crocheted decorations. Long stoles, or ties, appear in Irish crochet with pendants of crocheted balls; one of the styles is shown to the extreme left at top of page.
