| Show restitution and justice 9 A B walton former carbon county boy and confessed confes cd embezzler of the funds of the tile commer iner marcial cial bank of lias has been granted a full pardon by the tile state board on oil june 7 1911 walton S 1 I shafer and george II 11 biggs helped to of the funds of the tooele thoele bank all three were employed they arc detected pleas of guilty were entered and each was sentenced to one year in the tile penitentiary higgs was pardoned in the fall shafer was given his liberty in january jannary and last saturday walton was made free in the first case the blaid took the illness of higgs wife as an excuse the other two pardoned because they promised to make 16 restitution it is not reco ded on oil the minutes of the board that evidence was inas introduced to show that restitution would have been made if the loss had not been discovered in that case the depositors depositor of the institution or its stockholders would have stood the loss walton was raised ih ill carbon county and has many acquaintances here who will no doubt be glad t know that he was shown the same leniency as his associates but it is doubtful if many of those who knew him will find ouch much in the tile wholesale pardon policy of the boad boa d to call foith fox til their praise |
