Show CANDLELIGHT SERVICES PLEDGE DEFENSE CLUB Meeting at the home of their teacher advisor, Mrs. Stella Boothe, girls sponsoring the high school's new club for Defense, selected officers offi-cers and completed other plans of their work. Nine members pledged themselves them-selves to the club In impressive candlelight ceremonies. Results of the Victory Book campaign being carried on by the group were checked and over two hundred volumes vol-umes were listed. The girls plan to continue the drive untU the goal of one thousand dooks nave Deen collected for the army camps. Maurine Hendricks was chosen as president with Jean Brown, vice president, and Erma Merrill secretary-treasurer. Cleo Fryer and Barbara Cttmmings are publicity publici-ty directors. Other charter mem bers are Gwen Seamons, Beverly Cummings, Barbara Hansen and Mildred Palmer. March 2 will be the next meeting of the group and an invitation to attend has been extended all girls who wish to. join the club. |
