Show JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL NEWS PROJECTS By Norma Leigh Class Secretary Morris Buhanan's Fifth Firth Grade In school this year we are studying studying study study- ing man many interesting projects We Weare Weare Weare are studying Early American History His tory and In connection with our study st of the South Russel Sevy brought In a cotton ball baU and some seeds We planted some BOme seeds and the they are growing Two are up and anda a third one started We are also s studying the Birds of Utah We have taken some field neld trips and plan to take others including an all day bus trip later in the spring We are bird Journals constructing bird houses and drawing bird friezes George brought in a live Sparrow Sparrow Sparrow Spar Spar- row Hawk with its Us wing broken We have taken care of It and it Is rapidly getting well We hope tobe to tobe tobe be able to free it soon To enable us to remember the birds as they return from the South we have made a bird calendar We have al already already already al- al ready positively identified thirteen thirteen thir thir- teen species In addition to many that Have stayed with us all year We have formed a Junior Audubon Club and have Joined the Na National Nation Nation- al association of Audubon Societies There ere are two forty-two students In our Harmonica Band Dand We have In public four times tones and andover andover andover over over the radio This training raining will wUl help us with other Instruments This Tills year we have learned to dance and have had some very lovely dances with the other fifth grades In our drive for play ground equipment the students of or the Fourth and Fifth grades have sponsored a store Students furnished furnish furnish- ed pop pop corn com balls and cookies and sold Ice cream We cleared 2142 We thank those who aided us In Inthis Inthis Inthis this project We have long felt fel the need of cour courtesy y In schools homes churches and ell all community buildings This year we have tried to Improve the courtesy of students and we notice no- no no notice 10 tice an Improvement In our schools As a culmination in this project Mr Bethers Bothers took our pictures In movie form to be shown whenever needed DISTINGUISHED VISITOR By Norma Jean Cutler Outler Last Las week we were pleased to have with us Regonald and his wife from Canada who have spent much of their lives with the Indians of North and South Dakota They have studied their history learned their dances and and their They did some very Interesting dances and showed us some of the Indian signs and told us what they hey meant They showed us some beautiful handwork handwork hand hand- work told of the home of the Indians Indians Indians In In- and displayed an Indian hat-box hat very similar to ours DANCE REVUE By Marilyn Rob Rollo On April the the Physical Education Education Education Ed Ed- Department will sponsor a Dance Revue It Is Is u un under u er the direction tion of Miss Ruth Clark and Mr Wallace Osborne Osborn It Is composed of boys and girls There are dances of 14 U different countries Some of these are the Highland Fling the Tango a Dutch dance the Irish Jig Oriental and American It Is to be worked around the Uie Idea of a Folk Festival This entertainment Is free to the public e A recent activity of the he Junior High Home Iome Ma Making K Department was the dressing dr ot of polls dolls In uniforms uniforms uni uni- forms to represent the various fields of service performed by Red RedCross RedCross RedCross Cross The dolls were used In connection with the Red Cross Cron Cross convention The following gel gUU par In the project Idonna Cower Gower LaDawn Crosby Elaine Leigh Marilyn Hobo Rollo Veda Kenney Celia Cella Reeves Leslie Role Rollo Zola Rosenberg and Theo Judd Reporters Reporters- Norma Nanna Jean Cutler Marilyn Rollo Petty Fett |
