Show Aged Pioneer of Cedar Passes Wm Freemont Sawyer 82 died Tuesday February 1 I from ailments ailments ailments ail ail- ments incident to age after nearly nearly nearly near near- ly eight years of poor health Al Ai Although Although Al- Al though he had been in very poor health he was confined to his bedfor bed bod for only three days before death deaUl came Mr Sawyer was born in Wisconsin Wiscon Wiscon- sin on December 7 1850 1856 a son of Wm Freemont and Rose Ann Ball Sawyer He lIe came to Utah with his family when only five years of age The family settled In Salt Lake City but William came to Cedar City when only a small boyto boy boyto boyto to work fo to the late David Bulloch lIe He has resided here since engaging engagIng engaging ing in the livestock business andin and ami andin in road construction work lie He re received received received re- re an important railroad construction construction con con- contract when the railroad railroad rail rail- road was built through the Meadow Meadow Meadow Mea Mea- dow Valley Wash country and also did much of the early road buildIng building building build build- ing in this section lIe He married Eliza Ann McConnell McConnell McConnell McCon- McCon nell in 1875 1815 who died nine years ago Four children were born to them three of whom survive Wm H. H Sawyer Mrs Florence S. S Arthur and Mrs Lola S. S Watson all of Cedar City Also surviving are five grandchildren three great grand children one sister Mrs hrs Mary Marl Tripp Salt Lake City and one brother Thomas Sawyer Hatch I Utah Funeral services will be held in inthe inthe the First Ward Chapel Friday afternoon afternoon af af- February at 2 p. p m. m |
