Show Highly Respected Cedar Cedar Cedar Ce Ce- dar Matron l Killed in Auto Turnover The tragedy of the highway Ira traffIc traffic f. f fic tic accident toll struck Cedar City Monday when word vord was r received ed of the death fo to Mrs Rope 1109 Ro Bracken Gardner 62 wife life of Nathaniel Gardner and prominent church and civic worker of the community Mrs Gardner died in Rawlins Wyoming at 5 a a. a m. m Monday from I injuries received Sunday Sundar afternoon when the automobile In which she he was riding turned over on the highway ten miles out of Rawlins Raw Mrs Gardner had gone to Salt Lake City to visit with her two daughters and to meet her son Ralph Rollie Rome Gardner who was there with a basketball team from Colorado Springs Colorado and had md decided to return with him himo to o spend the Christmas holidays In Colorado She was riding with Rolle Rollie Rol Rol- lie le who was driving and three thre members of the basketball team Read Wade Cleo Petty and Harry when the accident hap hap- As they neared Rawlins the Ule rear wheels of the car suddenly skidded on the road caus- caus causIng Ing ng the right front wheel to strike the he mud of a soft sort shoulder of the the car turning over two ho hoor or three times Umes The car came to a stop in an upright position with all the passengers passengers pas pas- still sUll In their seats scats but Mrs Gardner had suffered an InJury injury In In- Jury to her back paralyzing the lower part of her body The occupants occupants oc oc- escaped with only very Cry minor cuts and bruises although r the he automobile was was almost de de- The unfortunate woman suffered an Injury to the fifth ver- ver tabrae of her back apparently the only Injury she sustained She remained re reo conscious until the end and was reported to have suffered very little pain Mrs Rose Gardner had long been teen very active in church and civic affairs of Cedar City particularly particularly par par- In the field of charity and relief and had constantly strived to relieve human suffering She had served as president of the First Ward Relief Society and also als o of the Primary and Young Women's Women's Women's Wo Wo- mens men's Mutual Association and had served on the Stake Boards of both the Relief Society and the ML M M.
