Show Change in School I Districts Imminent i As a result of a recommendation of the committee of nine a sweeping change In ln the organization of school districts in the state may be expected expect expect- ed when the state legislature convenes The committee suggests three alternative alternative alternative alter alter- native plans for consolidation of the the school districts to Insure economy and and efficiency in administration and to expedite the equalization of educational educational educational opportunity in the state I The first plan would be to consolidate consolidate consoli consoli- date the 40 school districts Into about I 29 districts or approximately the same areas as as the counties Most of the districts in southern Utah are now now designated by counties and this change would not effect the end of the state to any great extent The second is to divide the state Into 13 school districts by combining two or three districts Into one If this plan were adopted the Beaver Deaver Iron and districts would be combined Into one Kane Garfield and Piute in one and so on over the state The third is that the state N h mads f rna d Into one district under th th- I of the State Board of EQ Education giving ing mg the Board the power to divide I Into certain supervisory areas for th administration and supervision of the schools school I Legislative action on this question I will be closely watched by people of all nil parts of the state j |
