Show Large Percent of School Children Have Defective Teeth A dental survey of all children in ka the Iron county schools has recently been completed and reveals the fact that dental correction is Ls the greatest health problem In the schools today and that the condition Is really alarming The survey showed that In the tho elementary grades in Cedar City from Irons the first to the sixth grades only per cent of the childrens children's teeth are areo o o. o k k and that per cent of ot the tha children have defective permanent teeth even at that early age In the junior high school including children between the ages of 13 and 15 inclusive there are only percent percent per percent cent of the childrens children's teeth that are o. o k while 77 percent of them have hava defective permanent teeth Others In both groups have defective first teeth which of course is not as serious In the high school with about one- one fourth of the students examined 12 percent are o. o k and 82 percent have defective permanent teeth Practically y the same condition prevails prevails pre pre- vails valls over the entire county The percentage percentage per per- cent age Is a little better in the Parowan Parowan Parowan Paro- Paro wan Junior and senior high school than in Cedar City but the elementary element elemEntary ary percentage is a little higher li In Cedar than in Parowan In 19 1925 5 wh when health supervision w Wf wrt 4 first started the percent of i n with perfect teeth was as 17 and this i 1 creased until in fn 1930 30 percent wr wrt t o. o k k but now th the percent has drop Ito J I to 14 It is felt that the depress Ihas i n ihas has contributed much to this Supervision Super Super- Supervision vision has been taken from front th school in addition it has been much hard hard io for people to provide proper dents dent care for the children and also to pre vide a proper diet to build up u. tha t t- t teeth |
