Confusion As To Postage on Printed Chr Christmas Matter latter There appears to be some confusion confusion sion slon on the part of the public with respect to the rate of postage on Christmas and other greeting cards sent under cover of unsealed envelope Printed greeting cards mailed under undercover undercover cover er of or envelopes are chargeable chargeable chargeable charge- charge able with postage at the third-class third rate of 1 lid cents for each two ounces or fraction of two ounces regardless of whether addressed for delivery either through P P. O. O boxes or general delivery or by city or rural carrier the letter drop-letter rate applicable at ut non-letter non carrier offices does not apply apply apply ap ap- ap- ap ply to such cards in unsealed Printed Christmas and other greeting greetIng greeting greet greet- ing cards card in unsealed envelopes may tsar tear a simple written inscription not In the nature of personal correspondence correspondence dence ence such as Sincerely yours Merry Merry Mer ry Happy New Year With Best Wishes etc together with the name and address of the sender and of the ad addressee ressee without subject ing them to more than the third class rate Greeting cards sealed or unsealed bearing written messages other than the simple Inscriptions above mentioned mentioned men men- as well as all cards sent in reeled envelopes are chargeable with postage at the first-class first rate of 3 cents an ounce or fraction of an ounce ex except except except ex- ex when the cent I-cent drop letter rate applies
