MOORE Patriotic Society Official Teachers and compilers of school histories who belittle and amI criticize our greatest men do great harm They should build up and not destroy our ideals Too many of our new Dew school history writers seem to be bo pacifists They appear to believe that if they omit all incidents of devoted deVoted devoted de- de de de- voted courage bravery and heroism they will bring about permanent world peace peare Wo Ve all nil want wai pence peace but we need our heroes to help weld our people into one national spiritual entity Young folks arc are naturally hero worshipers worshipers worshipers wor wor- and anti unconsciously pattern their lives after favorite heroes A teachable fair unbiased well-rounded well and complete high school history is yet to be published I 1 would recommend that state societies of the Sons of the American Revolution follow Collow the lead of the Washington Washing Washing- ton organization which introduced a bill in the state legislature providing providing pro pro- viding no history textbooks should shout be used which speak slightingly of the thc founders of the Republic or which belittle or undervalue their work The rho bill was passed by the Wa Washington state senate but was reported unfavorably in the house |
