Show Sevier Valley Coal Co. Ships 217 Cars Shipments from the Sevier Valley Coid company's property in Salina canyon continues unabated, and the record thus far established, considering consider-ing the time since shipments began, : is one of merit. The first train ofj coal was shipped from the property j September 27th, and comprised seven- i teen carloads. November production j amounted to 4500 tons and the ship-j ments in December reached 7000 tons, . or a total of approximately 217 car-j loads since production first started. I General Manager H. E. Lewis stat-1 ed Thursday that at present a crew of 50 men was employed. Due, however, how-ever, to the nation's economic depression, de-pression, which was keenly felt in Utah, there is a temporary lull in the coal business, which usually follows the holiday vacations, and as a result the crews are only working part time. Within a few weeks, though, it is expected that normalcy will again be attained and at which time full operations wnl be started. All men are being retained and the forces are still organized, but all are not work- ; ng full time. Completion of the Installation ot new electric machinery has been fin-. fin-. 'shed, according to Mr. Lewis. The I new plant has a capacity of ISO i h. p., and will supplant, for the main j workings, the old 40 h. p. plant. The j "lant just installed is modern in every ! particular, with switchboards, generators genera-tors and other necessary appliances Tho old plant still remains intact and w 11 be used in mine operations.
