Ephraim at Gunnison Salina at Elsinore. Old daddy "jinks" followed the Gunnison Gun-nison ball team to Salina Sunday and as a result the local boys suffered their first defeat of the season. Matters Mat-ters looked bad for a time, and not until the first half of the ninth inning in-ning did Gunnison make a real showing. show-ing. The first and only score was recorded re-corded in the sixth inning, and in the ninth the players staged a "comeback" and added four more tallies, resulting in the finals being 9 for Salina and 5 for Gunnison. ' Nine costly errors crept in for the Gunnison side, and the boys just could not overcome the spell of the "jinks." Erickson, slightly slight-ly injured at the first of the game when he collided with a runner, did not show his usual form, and his support sup-port was not 'up to the standard usually us-ually displayed by his fellow players. Erickson allowed 8 hits, and 9 of the Salina players were retired by the clever curves of the twirlcr. Christerisen, in the box for Salina, was in superfine shape, and he had the Gunnison boys puzzled. Gunnison, however, got eight hits, but failed to make good in crossing home plate. Salina, too, was wild in landing on the ball, and two homers and a 3-bag-er did damage. A big crowd, no "booze," and a gentleman's game, marked the play (Continued on last page) THREE TEAMS TIE IN LEAGUE SERIES (Continued from first page) throughout. Only one discussion arose, but officials of the league prevented r.ny real flare-ups. The score: GUNNISON. B. H. 0. A. Stubbs, 2b 4 111 N. Childs, 3b 4 3 12 Villard, If 3 111 Modeen, cf 3 0 0 0 B.
