Show THE RED CROSS ROLL CALL. Again the American Red Cross is in the midst of its annual roll call, which is made each year between Armistice day and Thank-giving. It deserves the :-.u.po!'t of everyone who can possibly contribute. C.'.':miiiui.iti(!3 which have happily escaped es-caped disasU-r can hardly appreciate the magnificent work of this foremost relief organization. A great fire, flood, .storm, epidemic or other cause of widespread distress immediately brings the Red Cross into effective action. When the need for aid arises the Red Cross responds unfailingly, efficiently, effi-ciently, promptly. There are no delays, no hesitancy, no lost motion. With clock-like precision the trained personnel person-nel moves to its humanitarian task and sticks to it until it is finished. . While it was originrlly designed for the relief of suffering in time of war, the Red Cross has in late years become be-come the greatest agency for emergency emer-gency relief in time of peace as well. It costs only a dollar to join the organization or-ganization and thus become identified with its noble work. To do this is at once a duty, a privilege and an honor. |
