This is approximately approxi-mately three inches greater than the average water content at this time of the year at that station. Fourteen inches of snow has fallen since the last of January and the increase of water content is six inches and somewhat some-what higher than the water content for the February snow as recorded at the Great Basin Experiment sta-tibn. sta-tibn. Advices from the supervisor's office of-fice at Ephraim, Ranger Thursby "hiked" over the mountain on snow shoes, making the trip- March 5th and 6th. Mr. Thursby made snow measurements meas-urements at Oaks, Great Basin and the Alpine stations and at the head of Seeley Creek. He reports 2. BO inches of precipitation at tjie Oaks station as recorded by the Marvin snow gauge. At the Experiment station, sta-tion, the monthly precipitation, according ac-cording to the Marvin gauge was 5.52 inches. The reports of the - snow depth from official sources, give a splendid indication that water will be in an abundance during the summer irrigating irri-gating season. The snow is 39 inches deep at the Oaks; 58 inches deep at the Experiment station and 71 inches on the Meadows. In many places the snow is packed heavy enough to carry the weight of a man, and it is well drifted, the ravines and gullies being practically filled. |
