Show Mother, Daughter In Double Wedding Four persons lined themselves before be-fore Bishop George Graham, county marriage license clerk, Monday afternoon after-noon at 1 o'clock. "I want a license, to get married," said the eldest of the group, handing Graham a five-dollar bill. When, however, the license clerk started to give him back his change, the man demurred: "Just a minute! ! The rest of that is for mv son's li-cense." li-cense." I As it turned out, not only a father and son were seeking legal permis- sion to marry, but it was being sought with a mother and her daughter. The four persons were Jesse R. Holmes, aged 47; his son, William LeRoy Holmes, 18; Mrs. Josphine Andersen, 45, and her daughter, Miss Pearl Roselle Andersen, 19. The Holmeses gave their address as 836 Pierpont avenue. When, according to the custom observed ob-served at the marriage license bureau with regard to license seekers, Alon-zo Alon-zo Mackay, county clerk, presented Mrs. Andersen with a cook-book, she refused it, saying, "I know how to cook and so does my daughter." It was necessary that the father sign an affidavit giving his son, who is under age, permission to get married. mar-ried. Time and place for the weddings are as yet undetermined, Mr. Holmes stated. "We are starting Tuesday morning for Gunnison, and we are taking the licenses along with us, but we don't know just when we'll get married." The foregoing, taken from The Salt Lake Tribune of Tuesday, will prove of interest to the hosts of friends of the two new brides. The four newly-weds newly-weds arrived here Tuesday evening, and made the announcement that the marriage ceremony was performed at the Salt Lake temple Monday evening. The quartet of happy honeymooners will remain in the valley until the week-end, visiting with relatives and friends. Mrs. Holmes and her daughter are both natives of Gunnison valley, and are well and popularly known. Some three years ago they went to Salt Lake to make their home. The many friends here will join in wishing them the best for their matrimonial voyage. |
