Show AnnualLionsConfab Proves Huge Affair C. E. Andersen, president of the Gunnison Lions club, accompanied by Mrs. Andersen and Mr. and Mrs. G. L. Fjeldsted, were among those attending at-tending the : annual Lions club convention con-vention at American Fork Wednesday. The convention, according to the local visitors, was marked with unusual success, and a record crowd was in attendance. Registration of representatives from the various clubs was the opening open-ing feature, and at 10 o'clock the general session was begun. Addresses, Address-es, reports and activities of the various var-ious organizations were given. At the conclusion of the morning session, luncheon was served. Departmental sessions were held between one-thirty and two-thirty in the afternoon. Apollo hall was the scene from early afternoon until four, of a well-arranged bridge-tea party, and American Fork Lady Lions acted as hostesses. General sessions of Lion delegates, addresses and round-table talks occupied the time of the delegates until five, when the time was given over to a variety program, pro-gram, consisting of visiting and sightseeing sight-seeing tours. Joseph Walton, president of the American Fork club, gave a warm welcome address, and delegates and visitors were made to "feel at home." Organization was paramount with the entertainers and never at any time did the visitors get lonesome. Heads of the various committees "were on the job" and not a roar came as. a complaint. Vincent C. "Stub" Hascall, Omaha, Neb., former ail-American football player, lawyer, judge, legislator, and a member of the directorate of Lions International, represented the International Inter-national officers. "Stub" gave a stirring stir-ring address, using as his theme, "Service In Lionism." District Governor Gover-nor P. L. Holman, Leo Hansen, former for-mer district governor, Dr. M. M. Nielson, international director district 28, D. A. Skeen, past district governor, gover-nor, Dr. G. S. Richards, past president of the American Fork club, and Gov. Geo. H. Dern, were among the speakers. speak-ers. Deliciously fried chicken, luscious strawberries, together with other delicacies as are only produced in and around American Fork, formed the "eats" at the evening banquet. |
