Show Taxpayers to Vote Water Bond Issue City Officials Call Special Election In May to Vote $30,000 Bonds for Rehabilitation Reha-bilitation of City Water System. Rehabilitatoin of Gunnison city's water system, which has been a source of much expenditure of money and annoyance in its upkeep, is proposed pro-posed by the city officials in the issuance is-suance of bonds to the amount of ?30,-000 ?30,-000 to reconstruct the entire system and put in better and more serviceable shape the culinary water supply for Gunnison. This decision was reached at the regular meeting of the members mem-bers of the city council, the mayor and city attorney last Saturday evening, eve-ning, and all present were unanimous in support of the improvement, only after the matter had been thoroughly investigated. The matter will be put up to the taypayers of the city at a special election, elec-tion, which has been called for on Saturday, Sat-urday, May 9th, and, the question to be considered, as outlined by the city officials, follows: "Shall the negotiable coupon bonds of the City of Gunnison, Sanpete County, Utah, in the sum . of Thirty Thousand Dollars ($30,-000.00), ($30,-000.00), payable serially within thirty years from date of issue, bearing interest at the rate of four and three-quarters per cent (4 per cent) per annum, payable pay-able semi-annually, be issued and sold for the purpose of defraying the expense of increasing, improving, im-proving, enlarging, extending, perfecting and adding to the present waterworks system of said City and securing an additional addi-tional water supply for the purpose pur-pose of supplying and distributing distribut-ing water to the inhabitants thereof, the same to be owned and controlled by said municipality?" municipal-ity?" If the bonds carry as they should do, Gunnison City will then be able to construct a water system that will bo adequate in every particular. By voting vot-ing the bonds the city will be able to acquire all the rights at the springs from which the city gets its water supply. The trunk line carrying the water from the springs will be reconstructed, re-constructed, heavier and larger mains in portions of the city will be enknr-ed enknr-ed and there will be an increased f ,:-ply ,:-ply for all uses.
