Show THE WAY TO HAVE PEACE. The world has had some excellent object lessons in the past few years about how little the talk about peace will accomplish in preserving peace. Of course, the Japanese are giving the -globe the premier example of impotence im-potence of objection not backed by power and Italy appears on the sidelines, side-lines, about ready to go and do likewise. like-wise. Maybe, in the course of a few years the people of the world will realize re-alize that if they expect to have world peace, with the observance of the rights of others, they must hare armed forces ready to pounce upon a violator of pacts of peace, or other treaties stating definite rights and obligations. For example, if Great Britain and the United States had joined navies when Japan took her first step in Manchuria and announced that they would be used, if necessary, to maintain main-tain the open door in China and the territorial integrity of that country there would have been no occasion to use them. Japan would have known just how far she could go. |
