Show Change In Road !s Discussed By Lions The Gunnison Lions club, which enjoyed en-joyed a vacation in so far as regular meetings were concerned for move : than a month, resumed regular sessions ses-sions last evening with a luncheon-meeting luncheon-meeting at the Wistaria. Many matters mat-ters of interest and which are being sponsored by the Gunnison club, were taken up and broadly discussed. Among the important matters for debate and suggestions was the lining up of the highway that makes a dangerous dan-gerous curve at the southwest corner of the Roscoe Tollestrup property. )t has been planned to invoke the aid of the county commissioners and the state road commission in eliminating the right angle curve, by cutting through the Tollestrup acres. It has been announced that solicitation by Mr. Tollestrup has been made that if the county will allow the removal of the fence to a point even with the survey sur-vey line, that Mr. Tollestrup will donate do-nate the right-of-way through his place. In the event this movement is put over and a new bridge over the canal is put in, it will straighten the road and avoid many dangers. With the present conditions, the curve and the approach to the canal bridge are regarded as hazards, and something should be done to lessen the danger. Officers of the Gunnison Lions club hiive received an invitation to enter the Gunnison baseball club at the state invitational . amateur baseball tournament to be held at Salt Lake September 6th, 7th. and 8th. Only eight teams have been invited to participate par-ticipate in the tournament and Gunnison Gunni-son being included, is deemed a high honor. No definite action was taken at last night's meeting as to sending the local team, but the matter will be considered before the starting of the tournament. |
