Show Awards Are Made In Tobacco Contest One of the major projects conducted conduct-ed at the Gunnison stake seminary, and which proved an interesting one, was brought to a close last week when papers in the contest were handed hand-ed in and judged. Ninety-eight essays were submitted for contest honors, and the first, second and third year groups won honors. Among the many essays were some clever ideas advanced advanc-ed on the subject, "The Study of Tobacco," To-bacco," and the judges had difficulty & in picking the winners. In addition to making the three awards for the several sev-eral oTouns. honorable mention was made of many of the contestants. The result of the contest, showing winners of first, second and third places, as well as those receiving honorable hon-orable mention, follows: In the third year group, Miss Leona Michaelson won first place; Miss Wilma Morley, second; Miss Melissa Newton, third. Miss Winona Olsen received honorable ' mention. In. the second year group' Miss Carroll Car-roll Swalberg won first, Miss Ida Edwards, Ed-wards, second, and Miss LaPriel My-rup My-rup won third. In this group, Miss Clara Jensen was given honorab'e mention. First year group winners were: - First award went to Miss Louise Rosenberg, second to Miss Leona Kidman, Kid-man, and third to Miss June Duggins.' Four contestants in this group, Misses Faye Lund, Melba Metcalf, Phyllis Hermansen and Doris Allred, were given favorable mention by the judges. |
