The Ephraim contract, con-tract, the report 'stated, calls fo? work to begin within 30 days. ' Three representatives of the Morrison-Knudson company, Messrs. W'l-liams, W'l-liams, Blakeley and Nelson, were at the tunnel site last Wednesday looking look-ing it over. They stated they understood under-stood the contract had been signed and said their company was anxious J to get on the job as soon as possible. , R. F. Walter, chief engineer of the j U. They conferred con-ferred with M. S. Ross, reclamation ' engineer who will be in charge at the Ephraim tunnel, and told him that the contract had been signed and that the contractors will probably be actively ac-tively at work next week, probably the first of the week. The first work will be to build a shop, storerooms, dwellings, and such so that active 'work cn the tunnel proper might begin be-gin by September 13. Mr. Ross :s of the opinion that local lo-cal labor will be preferred and that there should be jobs for all qualified 'miners who want work. |
