Show Local Pugilists Administer Kayos Harry Christiansen, fast boxer of Gunnison, and Reed Bardsley, lightweight light-weight fighter of Centerfield, carried away honors at the boxing carnival held at Salina Thursday evening of last week. The two boxers not only won honors but they were the only two on the big card credited with administering ad-ministering kayos. Reed was matched against a likely-looking likely-looking boxer, "Spider" Smith of Salt Lake, outweighing and much taller than Bardsley. It took just a portion of one round for Reed to show hi.? superiority. Taking advantage of an opening, Bardsley shot a stiff right to the chin of Smith, which floored the latter. The Salt Laker was up, but a towel was tossed into the ring and Smith was assisted to the dressing room. It took Christiansen about two rounds to get his man, "Pug" Her-mansen Her-mansen of Elsinore. This melee was set for the semi-windup and for six rounds. Both men took aggressive stands at the opening round, and honors were about even. After a scuffle, in which stiff punches were given and taken, Christiansen landed a "sweet sleep" blow to Hermansen and the latter had to be carried to his corner. The fight was given to Christiansen on a knockout decision. The fans saw some fast boxing between be-tween Sly of Richfield and Wilson of Salina, and the main bout between Peg Johnson of Salt Lako and "Red" Bailee of Glenwood, was also fast. The last bout was a clever one and went the eight rounds. The fight was given 'o Bailee. |
