Show SCIENTIFIC TARIFF NEEDED. "Eventually the American people will demand that the tariff be taken out of the turmoil of politics and revised, re-vised, when necessary, on a scientific nonpartisan and non sectional basis," says the Milledgeville, Georgia, Times. "The people are sick of pulling and hauling and log-rolling of the tariff revision of of the past." Probably no other type of legislation legisla-tion has suffered so much from pure politics as various tariffs. Duties are ; established, not on the basis of sound economics, but by bargaining and vote-trading. As a result, employment, wage scales, international and domestic domes-tic trade all of which depend to a large degree on the tariff suffer. A sound tariff must be a basic factor I in the prosperity of any nation. |
