Show 'Way Off His Route Astonished farmers of Bradford, Conn., saw an airplane swoop out of the fog and land in the stubble of an oat field with a crash of underpinning. The pilot jumped out brisk enough and asked, "Where's Cleveland." "He's dead," replied a farmer. "No, no," replied re-plied the aviator, "I'm an air mall pilot pi-lot out of Bradley field, N. J., and how far from Cleveland am I?" When he found out it was his turn to be astonished. as-tonished. He had been flying eight or nine hours In fog, and through some niishnp to his compass had been Hying east instead of west. |
