Show Africa Imports Bugs South Africa hasn't enough bugs of its own ; it has to send to California for additional supplies. However, the importations are of useful Insects, the ladybird beetles, which have been found highly useful friends of orchard-Ists orchard-Ists in the American West. South African Af-rican trees were suffering from the attack of a pernicious mealybug, and a trial showed that the voracious little spotted beetles from America had large appetites for the troublesome creatures. It Is hoped that the imported im-ported American stock can be increased in-creased and that an efficient fighting army of insects can be recruited from their descendants. |
