Show WE OUTLAWS. What outlaws wc motorists are in this groat and supposedly free country. coun-try. As will be inferred from this .statement, the writer drives a car. Furthermore, nothing gives him more pleasure. He gets as much kick out of driving a car as the old-time horseman horse-man did in holding the ribbons over a span of square trotters in the horse-and-buggy days. And still he, confesses to a constant con-stant urge to park where there are "No Parking" signs. The records of the Police Court will show that he has forfeited his bond for overtime parking as often as the old-time bootlegger boot-legger or racketeer. He has only been caught once for starting before the green light showed, show-ed, but has often started on the yellow yel-low when there was no cop at the intersection. in-tersection. j He is a slow and conservative driv- er and has never been arrested for speeding, although, like ninety per cent of the motorists, he has exceeded the speed limits within the city limits. But can he be blamed for this? Henry Ford, who prides himself on being an advocate 'of the strict enforcement en-forcement of the prohibition and other laws, is advertising cars with ability to exceed the speed limits of every state in the Union. So is every other manufacturer of automobiles. With all the automobile manufacturers manufac-turers promoting lawless speeding by producing cars capable of seventy-five seventy-five miles per hour, can you blame the average man behind the wheel for being an outlaw? |
