Show Moroni Planning Turkey Day Fete The third annual Sanpete County Turkey day, in keeping with the usual custom, will be observed this year for two days at Moroni, the seat of the turkey industry of the county. The dates have been set for Friday and Saturday, September 20 and1 21, and an unusual program is being mapped for the 1935 celebration. celebra-tion. Eldon Westenskow, general chairman for the event, has announced announc-ed his assistants and all are working to the end to make this year's event bigger and better than ever before. Many turkey growers from Gunnison valley are making plans to attend the big event. i J. P. Marsden, of the United States experimental station, of Miles City, Montana, is to be the guest speaker at the opening session Friday. Other notables from Utah, who know the "turkey business," will also be on the program for talks. The program will be given at the Moroni ward chapel, and following a sports program pro-gram will be held at the ball nark. Included in this program will be a rodeo, when bucking ponies and steers will vie with "tight" riders ! for supremacy. .A ball game and! other sport features will also be onj the bill. At 4 o'clock p. m. Friday, turkey sandwiches will be served to everybody present. A boxing match and dancing party w'll be the main, features Friday night. Saturday, the closing day, will see a big caravan of interested spectators and growers on a tour to the many turkey farms in North Sanpete. On this tour short talks will be made by Mr. Marsden, Byron Alder and Carl Frischknecht, the latter two from the U. A. C. at Logan, and C. C. Edmonds ' and Chas. Rudd of the Utah Poultry Producers association. |
