Show Unruly Automobile Crashes Cafe Front Chas. Peterson and Leland Olsen, both of Sterling, got a real "scare" Sunday night at about nine-thirty, and incidentally the prank that befell be-fell them resulted in a loss of more than $100 to the Theatre cafe, owned and operated by Russell Anderson. Peterson and Olsen, who had attended at-tended the show, boarded the Chevrolet Chevro-let car they were using, and when the battery failed to function, one of the boys used the crank to start the engine. en-gine. This was o. k. the engine started, start-ed, but when the driver started, the car it was in gear and suddenly it shot out over the sidewalk, scattering pedestrians and crashing into the north 4-sectioned window of the cafe. All the glass and woodwork was broken and the car advanced sufficiently suffi-ciently far enough to bump the electric elec-tric stove located near the front of the building. The stove was overturned overturn-ed and dishes and cooking utensils .were scattered to the four winds within the dining room. Several customers cus-tomers were dining at the time and there was a mad rush for safety. The Sterling boys had never seen a "bull in a China shop," but declared they never did want to see another automobile cavorting in a restaurant. During its plunge into the cafe, the car suffered only minor damage. |
