Show Former Resident Dies at Salt Lake Mrs. Mary B. Christensen, a former for-mer well known resident of Gunnison and who had been in ill health for ! more than two years, died at her home at Salt Lake Monday of this week, according to advices received here by relatives and friends. Mrs. Christensen, soon after leaving here some few years ago, was stricken with an internal cancer. About a year ago she submitted to an operation opera-tion in the hopes of gaining relief. The relief, however, was only temporary, tem-porary, and the malady would not respond to treatment. During the long time of suffering Mrs. Christensen Christen-sen bore her grief and pain and seldom sel-dom complained, and when death closed clos-ed her eyes in eternal sleep, her suffering suf-fering was ended. Mrs. Christensen, the wife of Hy-rum Hy-rum Christensen, was a native of England. When fifteen years of age she came to America with her parents. par-ents. The family -settled at Salt Lake where Mrs Christensen remained remain-ed unt;l her marriage. Several years ago Mr. and Mrs. Christensen came to Gunnison, remaining in this city for many years. During her residence resi-dence here, Mrs. Chrstensen became widely known through her activities in church and social work. Her home was foremost in her thoughts, but she oftenmade sacrifices and sought the homes of the sick and afflicted and administered- with kindness and love. Through her kind disposition and jovial way, Mrs. Christensen made everlasting friends and all will grieve with the stricken family in their trouble.. Mrs. Christensen was 53 years of age. Surviving are the husband, Hyrum Christensen, three daughters, Ruby, Marie and Florence, and three sons, Virgil, Frank and Clarence. Funeral services were held at Salt Lake Wednesday afternoon. Those attending from Gunnison were President Presi-dent A. E. Park, Mr. and Mrs. Andrew An-drew Modeen, Mrs. Chas. Rasmussen and Nephi Gledhill. |
