Show WHERE THINGS WEAR OUT. It is remarkable that people ever get along at all before a benevolent Uncle Sam, through the medium oi his many departments and bureaus, hit upon the idea of regulating their lives by a wonderful series of advisory advis-ory bulletins. A few of these amazing screeds were enumerated by Senator Pat Harrison Har-rison in a facetious speech ridiculing them in his characteristic style. He .nentioned, among others, government govern-ment bulletins on "Utilization of Calcium Cal-cium In Spinach," "Lamb as You Like It," "Bringing Up. Bobby," "Reindeer Recipes," "Principles of Window Curtaining," "Haw to Dress for a Sun Bath," and even "Love Adventures Ad-ventures of the American Bullfrog." Hundreds of other bulletins and pamphlets of about equal absurdity are issued by the Labor, Agriculture and Commerce departments in Washington, Wash-ington, and the cost oi preparing and printing them is borne, of course, by the taxpayers who may or may not need this enrghtenment. One other bulletin for te edification edifica-tion of the fa thful bou?icwil'e de-, serves special mention. It is entitled' "Where Sheets Wear Out." If she reads this she will know without even taking the trouble to look over her hed linens. We await eagerly for' the ! treatise on "Where Pants Vear Out."; And possibly in til! cox.rse of human hu-man events the bureaucrat, , may have material for a more practical diswr-tatB diswr-tatB on "Where thr- Taxi .avers' pa- I tjence Wears Out." - |
