Show Olsen Victorious In School Election Hans C. Olsen,' school board member mem-ber for the South Sanpete district for the- past four year, was reelected Wednesday of last week to again fill the office for a period of four years, according to offiical account released Friday. Olsen was the only candidate candi-date that had filed for the office, but an' 11th hour candidate, Ernest L. Swalberg,. entered the race after the date of the filing time The total vote, which includes Gunnison and Fayette, ran exceptionally high, 398 having exercised their franchise to cast ballots for their respective candidates. can-didates. In the1 finals, Olsen got 186 in Gunnison and 61 in Fayette, making mak-ing his total 247. Swalberg scored 14-6 votes in Gunnison and 5 in Fayette, Fay-ette, thus giving Olsen a majority of 98 votes in the election. Swalberg was entered as a candidate by the Civic Relief Workers Protective Union. The local fight, if it might be termed so, waxed warm and both factions fac-tions were out for victory. The j CRWPU failed to marshal sufficient j votes to overcome that of their bp-i bp-i ponents. J At Mayfield, George Bradley, in- cumbent, again seeking office, was j defeated by Frank Dennison, labor organization candidate. Mayfield was strong for Dennison, giving him 126 I as against 37 for Bradley. In Sterling, Ster-ling, Bradley's home town, the latter ! polled 102, while Dennison received but 19. Dennison's total vote was 145, land Bradley received 139. A four-cornered fight was waged at Ephraim, with W. E. Thorpe, in-I in-I cumbent, winning out by a total vote : of 373. P. D. Jensen was second in Ithe Ephraim battle, with 314 votes; I MeCafferty, labor candidate, third jwith 74 votes; and Mrs. Thompson, , the only woman seeking the office in the three districts, was fourth with ! 49 votes. |
