Show Fayette Man, 70, Healthy Scrapper Sport directors, who are seeking an American battle for the now famed colored boxer, Joe Louis, can stop their endeavors. Gunnison valley, or rather Fayette, has the captain to meet some of the best ringmasters, and it only takes a single round to gain the count. At least this is the story of a fast and short conflict staged at the dancing party held at the high school Saturday night. Windom James, 70, and a highly respected citizen of Fayette, and Bert Morgan, said to be about 40 years old, were the principals in the melee Saturday evening. An old feud, reports re-ports have it, broke out between the two men, and a caustic remark and other actions at the time brought forth the ire of the 70-year-old veteran, vet-eran, Mr. James. No preliminaries at the outset were made, but losing his temper, James let fly a left hook that caught his opponent squarely in the left eye, leaving a mark of deep mourning. James wanted to go for many roends, and while Marshal Tol-lestrup Tol-lestrup was endeavoring to separate the men and remove them from the dance hall, James kept landing short-arm-jabs to the face of Morgan, much to the latter's chagrin, and incidentally in-cidentally his facial make-up. Once outside the dance hall, the men were summarily separated and admonished to "be peaceful" by Marshal Mar-shal Tollestrup. To date no complaints com-plaints have been registered with the peace officers. J |
