Show Sees Regard for Dogs Notably on Increase A woman who is a great lover of animals recently told two incidents, or retold them, from the press, to1 stress her point that the wholly com-' mendable, but rather limited, attitude' of "love nie, love my dog" shows hopeful signs of progress. She says that this affection is rapidly being stretched to include the other fellow's fel-low's dog. "There was that tiny item in the paper the other day, for example, about the dog that selected the middle mid-dle of a busy street in Bloomsburg, Pa., for Ills siesta," she said. "Little noting the vast number of persons who were affected by his diseriml-' nating search for n shady spot, the; dog took a peaceful nap, according to the Boston Globe, while 400 respectful respect-ful motorists detoured around hira. "Then there was that other dog, who had made himself unpopular-with unpopular-with his neighbors over in New Jersey Jer-sey because of bis habit of barking at night. The local police recorder! had been notified, and the aged rest--dent who owned him was given thei sad command to dispose of him. It happened that the owner not only: actually depended on the dog for' companionship, but for errands ati which the creature had proved re-; markably dependable. ! "Well, the upshot of it was," saidi the lady who loves animals, trium-; phantly, "that GG persons, led by the' mayor of the town, "neard of the matter mat-ter end testified in tie dog's behalf.1 Some of them, mind ;ou, even gave up their vacations so tl.it they might aid the case. And the cg was officially offi-cially forgiven." |
