Show Severe Cold Snap Follows Snowstorm Following a heavy fall of snow, which was general throughout Southern South-ern Utah Saturday and Sunday, neighbors from the extreme northern points of the U. S. sent a message in the way of a bitter cold blast, and citizens have been suffering from the unexpeted cold spell. The "red flannels" flan-nels" were pulled from the boudoir, heavy clothing rustled and the merchants mer-chants have been doing a real business busi-ness providing comfort in the sale of warmer garments. The real wintry blasts descended Monday morning, and the thermometer began soaring downward. Tuesday morning, ' unofficial unof-ficial reports showed the mercury all the way from five to ten below zero at early morning and during the day, in the face of a bright sun, the reg- 'strations of the thermometers varied but little. Wednesday morning there was a noticeable change with the mercury rising somewhat, and throughout the day the air became warmer. Today, Thanksgiving, the weather forecasters declare, promises to be ''deal for the observance of the festal day. The snows of the early days of the week and last Saturday, proved record-breakers for this time of the year as compared with snows of late years at the same time. Unofficial reports show that approximately four feet has fallen in the mountains. Saturday, Satur-day, with a light snowfall all day long, a brisk wind kept the flakes flying and many of the ravines and gullies were well packed. With the snowfall later, which always comes, farmers and stockmen are resting assured that the coming year will yield sufficient waters to insure better bet-ter crops than were harvested during the season just closed. |
